BREATH OF LOVE

They say breath is life,
So when I inhale I wonder
If the thought of you popping into my head
Like the draughts of air filling my lungs
is life itself,
Filling me with strength and vigour.

When I miss you
I can’t breathe,
Cause my life stands still
My heart beats faster
As the blood in my veins
seeks oxygenation.

The longer from me you stay
So the life ebbs from me,
So the air evades my breath,
So I gasp for you,
To fill me, to save me from emotional death.
